You are using an outdated browser which puts all net citizens at risk. As an incentive to upgrade to a current and thus much more secure product (we recommend the free Firefox browser), you won't be able to visit this site in its cute design, but in this rather boring printer-ready version only. Thank you for considering a browser update!

Postwhite is a policy server for Postfix MTA which filters incoming emails based on per recipient whitelists managed by an email frontend.

Here is what Postwhite can do for you:

  • Use one and only one email address for all "fishy" actions such as subscribing to websites, mailing list digests or that guy whom you don't want to give your phone number to. Once you want to get rid of all mails from a certain sender, just dump it from the whitelist and enjoy the silence.
  • The whitelist is another line of defense against SPAMs. However, this is not the main purpose of Postwhite and there are currently ways to circumvent the whitelist if you really want to. (This may improve in the future as support for the Sender Policy Framework is on the todo list.)
  • Communication with senders not allowed by the whitelist is cut at a very early stage thus minimizing network bandwidth and CPU time used (due to expensive content, virus or SPAM filters) to almost zero.

Please refer to the Postwhite Documentation for a typical usage scenario.

IMPORTANT The current release of Postwhite is still quite an early one, please help by submitting the problems encounter.

Installation and configuration are outlined in the Postwhite Documentation.
